HABIBMETRO – A Socially Responsible Organization

HABIBMETRO Bank is a socially responsible organization that endeavors to contribute towards a better tomorrow through various initiatives related to education, healthcare, sports, environment and social awareness etc.

In addition to creating employment opportunities through its fast-growing branch network and scale of operations, the Bank drives positive impact in society through support extended to various NGOs/initiatives as well as other timely initiatives and activities conducted by its socially involved staff.

The Bank received a ‘Social Responsibility’ award at the Global Diversity & Inclusion Benchmark (GDIB) Awards 2020. The Bank was also presented with the ‘Education/Scholarship’ and ‘Public Health/Safety Initiative’ awards at the 9th and 10th Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Summits.

  • Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital Children’s Festival is held every year on World Cancer Day. This year we contributed to this noble cause by setting up a game stall for the children Toys were distributed among young cancer patients.

  • (We partnered with WWF, Pakistan’s leading environmental organization, to play our part in making our beaches a cleaner place to help preserve the environmental and co-exist with it sustainably. With the participation of our management and employees, we successfully cleaned up the beach on a fun-filled yet purpose-full day.)

  • Mangroves are a vital part of our coastal ecosystem as they serve as a breeding ground for the marine life as well as a barrier from the ruthless storms that rampage through the Indian Ocean. Therefore, we collaborated with WWF to further the Government’s vision to plant 100,000 mangroves on the Sindh coastal belt.

  • Women constitute almost 49% of the total population of Pakistan and can prove to be a vital part of the overall workforce if given the right opportunities. On Women’s Day 2020, HABIBMETRO provided a chance to he talented and underprivileged women to put their sewing skills to work. Hence, we contributed to women empowerment by distributing 100 sewing machines to them.

  • The novel coronavirus has taken the entire world by surprise and has had a drastic impact on the day to day lives of humanity. Pakistan, like any other country, was not spared from the effects of this virus. The whole nation came together to combine their efforts to fight against this deadly virus Consequently, HABIBMETERO played its part in the fight against COVID-19 by donating Rs. 20 million to the PM’s COVID-19 Relief Fund

  • The effects of COVID-19 have been felt far and wide, from aviation to production, each industry has taken a toll due to the virus. But, no one truly felt the effects of this virus as much as the daily wage earners, who depended on their daily earning to feed their families. Hence, to combat this crisis we distributed ration packets to over 5,000 households in 17 cities across Pakistan

  • Eid is perhaps the most auspicious of days in the Islamic religion, and a time when the entire Ummah comes together to rejoice over Blessings bestowed upon us. It is the most widely celebrated festival in Pakistan. At HABIBMETRO, we decided to celebrate Eid in its full spirit, and who better to celebrate it with than the children at Hussaini Orphanage, distributing gifts and spreading happiness among them

  • Initially, when COVID-19 had begun in Pakistan the cases were increasingly rapidly and due to the doctors not being aware of what this virus was, there was utter chaos in many of the hospitals. Many people were falling ill and required medical help at the utmost urgency, but due to the hospitals working at full capacity, masses were not able to get medical help.

    To help with this problem we donated 1 High Dependency Unit to Indus Hospital to enhance COVID-19 patient care and facilities

  • Al-Mustafa Medical Centre is a non-profit welfare organization in Pakistan which aims to work in the fields of education, health and social welfare services, especially for the neglected and low-income groups of our society. They believe that poverty should not be a barrier to obtain a good education and everyone should have access to it regardless of their financial status. Therefore, to show our appreciation of their admirable work we donated ECG Machines to Al-Mustafa Medical Centre in Karachi

  • The Corona Virus has proved to be a very deadly virus by putting the world at a standstill which is why we have to take the necessary precautions to stay safe. Therefore, to remind the public about these precautions we distributed COVID-19 Care Packs at Cattle Market and Edhi Old Age Homes

  • The Corona Virus has ruined the lives of many especially the health workers who risk their lives every day trying to save the people affected by this virus. They are the true heroes in this devastating time and it is our duty and responsibility to help them in any way possible. In Pakistan, several health workers have died due to shortages of personal protection equipment kits which is why we donated PPE Suits at SIUT, JDC, The Kidney Center, KPSIAJ, Indus Hospital and Al Mustafa Medical Center

  • The youth is the most integral part of the Pakistani society with immense potential if given the right resources and opportunities, they could work towards achieving great heights and subsequently contribute positively in the future. Therefore, to keep our undeniable support, we collaborated with Development in Literacy (DIL) to bring ease of education to 100 underprivileged children by giving them laptops

  • COVID-19 hit students hard by impacting their parents’/guardians’ income, so we stepped up to offer scholarships at Habib University, National University of Sciences and Technology, Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and NED. With this scholarship, we ensured that students are able to achieve quality education without having to worry about

  • To ensure a bright future for our country we need to make sure that the students are given the best quality of education and at Hunar Foundation the students are provided with a high quality learning environment of international standards. Therefore, we walked the talk of financial empowerment by supporting the dreams of 10 vocational students at Hunar Foundation

  • Breast Cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women because one in every 9 women in Pakistan has a lifetime risk of being diagnosed with this disease. Majority of them lack the knowledge of this fatal disease which is why we conducted Breast Cancer Awareness sessions for our staff in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad & Peshawar to provide them with the basic knowledge regarding this disease And help in sharing this message amongst the less aware women around them.

  • To mark the importance and significance of Breast Cancer Day, HABIBMETRO took the initiative of lighting up their head office situated at the most crowded junction of I.I.Chundrigar Road, for passersby to be reminded of the dangers of the disease and to spread awareness regarding it.

  • NOWPDP (Network of Organizations Working with Persons with Disabilities) aims to provide a better life to the disabled people and make them feel a part of society rather than apart from it. They want them to have an independent life and have equal access to opportunities. We really admire the work done by them which is why HABIBMETRO collaborated and donated to NOWPDP

  • Karachi Down Syndrome Program (KDSP) aims to help and advocate for the people with this condition and aims to give them the opportunity to lead independent lives and be a better part of society. To celebrate their remarkable achievements, we gave their students gifts and after-school kits

  • Jafaria Disaster Management Cell is a noble non-profit organization aiming to provide quality medical and rehabilitation services to all citizens in Pakistan regardless of their background. HABIBMETRO values these inclusive practices and wholly supports the admirable work they do, therefore, we supported them in their efforts to provide food to the needy and rally morale for the brave volunteers.

  • Health and Social Welfare Association (HASWA) works to help the underprivileged section of the society in Pakistan in taking back their lives and happiness. They work to provide prosthetic limbs and sponsor reconstructive plastic surgeries to help these people have an active and normal lives. We at HABIBMETRO are pleased and proud to have been able to distribute 10 prosthetic limbs, knowing that children and adults suffering from this disability will have a chance to become a self-dependent part of society.

  • Diabetes is a very harmful disease and it is quite common in Pakistan which is why the people need to be made aware of the necessary precautions they need to take to prevent it and due to the lack of education many people are still unaware of this. Therefore, we conducted a Diabetes awareness session on World Diabetes Day, which are staff truly benefitted from

  • Lady Dufferinn Hospital is over 120 years old, since its inception the hospital has evolved into a state-of-the-art medical facility providing obstetric, gynecological and neo-natal pediatric services and its aim is to provide the best medical care along with the best facilities. Our female staff visited the underprivileged wing at this hospital, followed by an awareness session conducted by doctors

  • With the spirit to do good for the community, HABIBMETRO spent the day at SOS Children’s Village on 17th December. The day was filled with various fun activities for children including plantation of trees and motivational speeches for children and teachers
