Q. What is the 3D Secure Service?
3D Secure Service is a security layer for internet transactions powered by “Verified by Visa” (VBV). While using your HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Card for internet-based transactions, it provides you an added protection from unauthorized internet-based transactions.
This service is used to confirm the authenticity of internet transactions by sending a One-Time Password (OTP) to your registered mobile number &/or email address, which will be required before process any transaction.
Q. How does 3D Secure Service work?
First activate your HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Card for internet/online transactions by calling HabibMetro Call Centre at 111-1-(HABIB) 42242 or through HabibMetro Web Banking Services / Mobile App then go to the website you want to perform your internet transaction. While performing the transaction for online purchasing / payment, usually after checkout you will be asked to enter your basic card details (cardholder name, card number, card expiry date, CVV code etc.). After submitting the details, you will be requested to enter OTP that has been sent to your registered mobile number &/or email address. Upon submission of OTP, the transaction will be processed.
Q. Which HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Cards are 3D Secure enabled?
The 3D Secure service is available on all variants of HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Cards.
Q. Do I need to register for this 3D Secure Service?
There is no need for separate registration to avail 3D Secure Service. All you need to do is to enroll in SMS Alert Service and register your valid mobile number & email address with HabibMetro, so you can receive the OTP required to perform the transaction.
Q. How do I register or change my mobile number and email address?
You can visit your HabibMetro account maintaining branch to update your email address &/or mobile number.
Q. How much will I be charged for the 3D Secure service?
There is no charge for this service.
Q. Is the 3D Secure PIN the same as the one I am using with my HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Card?
No, 3D Secure PIN is an OTP that is generated every time you perform online / internet transaction. This is not the PIN that you use with your HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Card while performing ATM / POS transactions.
Q. What is meant by One Time Password (OTP)?
One Time Password (OTP) is consisting of a randomly generated 6-digit online verification code which will be sent to your registered mobile number &/or email address before executing any internet based transaction.
Q. How long is an OTP valid for?
An OTP will be valid for 10 minutes only, after which the OTP needs to be reinitiated.
Q. Will I receive an OTP for all my internet-based transactions?
You will only receive an OTP for internet-based transactions on 3D Secure enabled websites. For non – 3D Secure enabled websites, you will not go through the OTP authentication process.
Q. How can I differentiate normal internet-based transactions from those made on a 3D Secure enabled website?
Visa Card Secure Code and Verified by Visa (VBV) logos will be displayed if you are performing an internet-based transaction on a 3D Secure enabled website
Q. What should I do if I do not receive my OTP?
If you do not receive your OTP, you may click the “Resend OTP” button on the authentication screen to request a new OTP.
Q. What happens if I have entered an invalid OTP?
You have three attempts to enter the correct OTP. After three incorrect attempts, your transaction will be cancelled and you will need to reinitiate the transaction with a new OTP.
Q. What does this mean if a screen was shown which displayed: “We are unable to send you One Time Password (OTP)”?
This message is most commonly displayed when:
- Your mobile number &/or email address is not available in Bank’s records
- You have not activated your HABIBMETRO VISA Debit card for internet/online transactions by calling HabibMetro Call Centre at 111-1-(HABIB) 42242 or through HabibMetro Web Banking Services / Mobile App.
- Your card is blocked / expired
We recommend that you contact HabibMetro Call Centre 111-1-(HABIB) 42242 if none of the above will apply or if you need any assistance in rectifying any of the above.
Q. What should I do if I receive an OTP for a transaction not performed by me or suspect that information on my HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Card is compromised or has been used to make fraudulent purchases?
Please call HabibMetro Call Center at 111-1-(HABIB) 42242 immediately to block your HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Card.
Q. What if my mobile phone is on roaming while I am abroad, will I receive an OTP for internet-based transactions?
Yes, you will receive an OTP. However, you may incur roaming charges (if any) from your mobile service provider.
Q. Can I provide a temporary phone number / email address to receive my OTP if my HabibMetro registered phone number / email address is not available?
An OTP via SMS / email will only be sent to your registered mobile number &/or email address with the Bank.
Q. Will my additional cardholder receive an OTP on their mobile number for internet-based transactions conducted by using their HABIBMETRO VISA Debit Card?
Yes, your additional cardholder will receive an OTP on their registered mobile number &/or email address.
